The powah of wishes. Klaus said that Elena's wishes destroyed the previous timeline, so it wouldn't be weird if it's also her wish that made Klaus and Larriett regress like her. Maybe she wished to return to good-old-times. For soul-yeet, it's because she wished to disappear.
