I'm pretty sure the idea with the second one is that the mistress licking her wonds reset the timer or atleast delayed it significantly even if she is still very hungry

Yeah it feels like the author didn't exactly know how to progress this with all the other details so they just hand waved it. Like having to explain why the ghosts can't just check on her too.

The only way it'd make sense and be good in retrospect is if miss maid realizes she was being a dumbass because she wanted her blood sucked.

Titles don't have to be literal and this is based on a oneshot they made previously. I'm sure they knew what they were doing when they named it.

I believe it was explained in the first chapter that she was born with the vampire lineage.

Hm... they said the house was founded three generations ago by the grandfather in the trader business. And that currently there's just 2 people in the house and it's been that way at least 20 years. Nothing about vampirism in the family unless I'm missing something. Or was it in the one-shot?

They call August the eldest daughter of the prior lord. Implying there were other siblings at some point. But if she has family, vampires or otherwise, they aren't around. Perhaps they all died of old age if they weren't vampires? The mother who tended the flower garden was dead they said. That's one down. So she wasn't likely a vampire then. And those dead ghost maids could be sticking around with August's wellbeing as their unfinished business. August says she's trying to "become human again". Which means she wasn't born that way too. I guess I'll just have to wait for more info.
