So, I just skipped through chapters of this after watching the anime first (and as far as I know) only season...
Am I imagining things or there are substantial differences between the two versions?

I like this ending more than the anime.

This manga barely passes, and only because of that true harem ending. The plot had no sense of pace, stalling in some cases and jumping over a dozen chapters worth of development in a few pages. The school plots were just too silly even by harem standards. There js no reason for a prestigious magic school to have their teachers compete in stripping contests with students, among other problems. Even the harem ending was half-ruined by yet another story, likely done as a cash grad un case this manga is revived, which I sure hope it isn't.
