It teaches you enough of the absolute basics required to play but that's about it.

As for gameplay, it's well uh online Mahjong. Not much else to say aside from minor flashiness from cosmetics.

Damn similar thing actually happened to me just two days ago. I was listening to music in a tram for like twenty minutes while using phone. When I put the phone in my pocket while getting off I realised my Bluetooth headphone was not connected this whole time 😭 time to hide from society and moves underground

It's good for beginners indeed, the tutorial's alright and you can view yaku list in-match. You don't even need to fall into the gacha hell, they have free events happening here and now

This hit in the feels a bit as I had to install tenhou to play in public after deciding to play majsoul in the subway, noticed ppl around me looking into my phone w funny faces and realized that there's a lot of b00ba in the game 💀 not exactly the best choice where the most socially acceptable thing to play in public is connect-three typa games

I hope they bring the Akagi collab back... Can't wait to deal into tanyao as Washizu man

It's pure mahjong but some custom modes offered in limited-time events are rather fun too

When Akagi event was going you could play a mode with transparent tiles

I've been playing plenty of mahjong soul because of this chapter, one game I called Riichi 3 times but no ron/tsumo and end up last place with -250. At least I know I suck at mahjong and I don't gamble like kaiji 😬 need to learn when to pon and chi

i've been very tempted to get into majsoul but just playing on tenhou was already way too addictive for me... if they added unlockables and gacha and events and such i'd lose my life. i'm gonna stick to meeting up with friends and playing irl occasionally as my only mahjong action, even though adding up points yourself is a pain lol.

If I ever pick up gacha again, it'll be MajSoul since I've always been curious about mahjong. Maybe before I read Akagi so I know what's going on.
Then again I spent the entirety of the 2010s sports manga boom not knowing how any of the sports actually worked, so...

...I'm awful at mahjong but I go through phases of Mahjong Soul addiction. I whaled for Washizu, no regrets, it's an incredible feeling playing against all the SSR anime waifus as a creepy old man, his emotes are great.
