My theorie is that they are all dead and in some sort of purgatory since they each refer to a deadly sin and they have to sort all there personal problems before going to heaven

There is an interesting hint in that statement of: "More importantly, I remember who you really are. Try to stop me... ... and I'll tell Tsubasa everything."

Every cycle thus far centers around Tsubasa waking up. I think if anyone is dead (or near dead), it would be Tsubasa. If it something supernatural, I would lean toward something like Alice in Borderland.

It could be a suicide prevention/rehabilitation scenario.
