What is there to say except that it's so cruel ? It's not so easy to label the father as the selfish one, because it was very unlikely that he would be wrong about his daughter killed by national death. Because just imagine that you gave up your life for nothing and then leave your child alone forever.

And in this volume, there are only two fathers that are shown, but there are many more who had to make this choice. And in the two that are shown, both of them made the wrong choice. One leaving his son forever, and the other allowing that his daughter will be killed.

The saddest and perhaps the more vicious part is that the parents are purposely left in the dark about their child future just to push as many fathers as possible to join a war. I think, there is no point to criticize the fathers. There are not responsible of what is happening, they are just victims facing the absurdity of the society there are living in.

This manga really give a lot to think about.
