the pages at the end say that the third volume o the LN will be releasing 'next year' and that the previous one was released 2021.
so yes to a light novel form and for the 'axe' probably just caught up to the LN

Rather than caught up with the novel I think this one was meant to only be a promotional material in the first place

My favourite anime is Hyouka, and this is nearly the most similar to that (most than shoushimin series). Is so sad seeing this with only 2 arcs.
