The author also has to explain what folk custom is? Needs a correction. *Fake crap people use to justify lineage and self worth by taking solace in heritage and more often than not supernatural occurrences exclusively available to their bloodline. Basically what poor people do instead of being rich to feel better about themselves, or what rich people do confuscate their "power" as some kind of blessing from a god and not dumb luck or old money. because inky is intentionally keeping him ignorant. furthermore the supernatural stuff is all covered up in media reports. we see it from the perspective of "one who knows" not the average person. Mr lin view through the lens of the ignorant masses. he thinks he was lucky and went to another world but doesn't know this world does have magic. basically he's naive
