the mc is a possesive disregarding sadist... while i like the setting they should have given him atleast a couple of feelings or a mind of his own (he got brains but no mind)

They should add kind of tag like "violance" and psycological plus another extra warning for reader, to be honest i don't like type of story where "humanity" literally geaten beat up and massacre all because few "bad apple". Rip for thoose brave adventure. Let see how this will go (even though maybe i will get back again ptsd)

the mc is contradictory,
he doesnt like killing humans but the way he goes about doing things .... tbh it
feels less like trying to avoid killing and more like boxing himself into a corner to make it easier

I slightly doubt he would leave those girls but if he allows those spirit users to be enslaved, I'm dropping this one. Letting someone else's life get ruined to protect your own when you could have done something about it is the wrong kind of character development.

........Seriously who am I kidding? He intends to kill all of them.

Personally I don't like the mc, he seems a little too self-righteous as he claims to prefer not to kill yet seems to not do much to avoid it. overall this series is a very meh to me.

However I can at least argue that his killing the adventures was the right choice from a certain point of view; though he went a little overboard by burning the mage girl alive. Remember his main desire is to protect the spirit village from humans who would try to come and tame/enslave all the spirits to use as summons. The problem is that the adventurers, even if they were not looking for the village specifically, did find something of profit here by slaying those tree monsters for their drops. Even if he doesn't care about the monsters they killed, the fact that they got good drops here will attract more adventures/humans to come to this area and increase the risk of his village being discovered. This left him with the moral problem that if he didn't do anything, this could eventually lead to the to his family being enslaved by the same species that had abandoned him as a baby.

i honestly don't understand how people say the mc is a bad guy for killing humans. but adventurers are A OK cause they kill monsters. in the eyes of the MC those adventurers killed his family and friends, and he killed them in response after he gave them a chance to flee by returning the drops they had. sure he might went overboard how he killed them, but honestly at that point it doesn't really matter.

What family? He clearly doesn't care about life of some random monster.
Incident with adventurers was awful in more then one way. In the first place from the adventurers dialogue it's widely known information that you can find profitable drops in that place, but it's dangerous and only experienced parties can survive. MC approached them like some generic villainous thug "this generous lord will spare you life if you give up your posessions" we have seen in almost every chinese novel( but even they usually just beat up MC without killing). Would you give up thing you risked your life to obtain to some edgy teenager in pajamas?(probably yes bc it is most likely a MC). And the author thinks MC's self-righteous bullshit totally justifies killing people. Not scaring them off by showing the difference in strength, not crippling them to make an example, but outright gory slaughter bc it is cool and edgy.

About the MC's contradictory actions. That stems from clash between the old asian mentality that values family/clan/company hierarchy with complete disregard for the life of ones "lower" then you, and the modern "maybe we need to be something more then just a cogs in hierarchical mechanism and be kinder to other people" mentality(this problem is the main topic in the Korean film "Parasites") Reading many novels I stumbled upon a lot of racism and nationalism from asian authors and I can say that people are currently moving to new humanistic ideas but old traditions is hard to forget.

@Aplonis you missed the whole point then. Reread what he says and you will see why he is okay with the monster dying.

Wow, I came looking for gold and found copper.

Well, you can't be lucky with every manga you find.

I like how the story looks at a sword & sorcery world from the side of the spirits this time.

It doesn't seem as hardcore compared to manga's like RE:Monster or that one with the spider MC. But that's fine.

ok we have an retarded elf i dont see those a lot
jo idk but one sided slaughter doesnt satisfy me in any way I want a fight but if i think about it again thats not entirely true if the abilities are cool enough one sided slaughter is fine too (fff-rank trashero for example was very fun to read)
