other than this being a tv show, i wonder if 'normal' ppl in the audience pay to get in or get to see some kinda public stage, other than invited journalists but interesting if some ppl blogged/recorded the auditions and ppl getting comments like "they were so good i can't believe they got rejected TT" and got a 2nd chance that way lol
