I was starting to think he wasn't going to get the sword box. That's a pretty crucial part of his arsenal through much of the story. In the web novel, 2 of the elders make a bet about if it's Yang Ye or the other kid that made it to the upper levels of the pagoda. The sword box was that little chubby elder's most prized possession and he lost it to Yang Ye's benefator.
