No, not really China. That was a flashback of the earth, well, not a scientific one I guess. Figures you saw, you can say they were Chinese mythological gods or the asian zodiac animals or the author's preferences. The rabbit is a reference of the rabbit of Chang'e—Chinese goddess of the Moon. While that toxic or truthful woman was Chang'e herself.
