Kṣitigarbha (Sanskrit: क्षितिगर्भ, "Earth Treasury" or "Earth Womb") is a revered bodhisattva in Mahayana Buddhism, known for his vow to save all beings suffering in the realms of hell and guide them toward enlightenment. In East Asia, particularly in China, Korea, and Japan, Kṣitigarbha is highly venerated and is often depicted in religious art as a monk holding a staff and a wish-fulfilling jewel.
