If it's been distilled, then it's no longer wine, but liquor, which means Gogyo just admitted to a federal crime in live television. 
And yeah, not sure why Jan saved them. If they all drank the liquor and then collapsed, it'd seem like it was the wine's fault, and they wouldn't be able to eat Gogyo's dish either. That being said, seeing Jan stop them from drinking the liquor, and then seeing the one person who drank it collapse, and then blaming it on Jan, is a pretty refrigerator temp IQ move.
