It's a bit weird that it took so long to be confirmed, but it's good to know that he's actually killing the otherworlders here. The ambiguous scene where the first guy he killed was dragged off made it seem like he was still alive afterwards, and if that was really the case, it would've detracted from the tone of this story and made the stakes far less reasonable, because who's going to care about a hero's second battle with a villain he should've killed the first time?
