Eugenics does not work. Humans are horrible at trying to breed for certain genetic traits. (Unless you're trying to breed more Habsburgs with hemophilia) We're generally pretty good at trying to keep certain genetic diseases from showing up, but any other "trait" you're trying to aim for is a crap shoot. STR, CHA, WIS, INT, DEX, CON. None of those work out. Ignoring the ethical implications, we don't truly understand how all that truly works at the genetic level. Hair color, eye color, random other stuff, we mostly understand that. We're generally working at the margins for stuff Mad Scientists are trying to aim for. We mostly know stuff when it results in tragedy and problems. As explained in this chapter, skills depend on lineage and get inherited. In rare cases this is not so, but could be a "throwback" from 2 or more generations ago. Like how kids don't fit the "family mould" , but maternal gramma remembers the tyke looks and acts like her mother..
Either way, people have a traceable, predictable, lineage on their skills in general, and at least some existence prior to coming to the attention of nobles. And MC has none of that. He's an enigma.
As for what they could get out of it... MC's production capabilities are well out of the ordinary, and if they could figure out the "why", they could try to duplicate it. Through breeding. Mix and match the right traits.. Get the right couples together, incentives, the works..
Eugenics works, it works for livestock, in a more haphazard way in Nature. It's just that the downside what to do with the culls is.... unpalatable... to the vast majority of people. Including myself, with emphasis.
If that doesn't work, having a positive relationship with someone proven to be "Mostly Harmless" could well benefit them, in too many ways to count.
Plant and Animal Husbandry, is a different matter. And that works because you're allowed trial and error and multiple generations to try to affect a change. And it's completely totally messy. Look into how many generations Universities need to create hybrid plant and animal species that end up in the real world. It's a long arduous process. Our Current Genetic Engineering tools are neat, but we're still not at Bioshock Plasmid injections. It's still spend years finding a gene, spend a year+ trying to express that gene, insert gene into animal model, Hope and Pray it works out. Step 2: ??? Step 3: Profit.
But this manga is also not quite straightforward either. It's literally gods and magic. It's incredibly rare for children to have skills that don't derive from their parents, which means it happens. We're not told how far this inherited skill system extends. How many generations removed does it still effect the population? Who knows. It's magic and literal actual Gods. So based on that, you could have a Miyabi Breeding Program, but you wouldn't use his daughter, nor other any high profile individual. But.
So confined to the in Universe system, none of Miyabis skills are unknown. Just the scale and power are weird. So as such a weird outlier, the Duke wants more information on what else might be an outlier. Considering the tone of this story, I'm guessing the Appraisal just says Production - Crafter. So totally mundane. Which means trying to use him as seed stock for anything would be useless.
