Well, from his perspective they might be potential assassins coming after him and his wife. Also they are intruding when he is about to finish a spell he's worked for a long time and so zealously on that this is most likely why he looks so weak and sickly, so he's naturally quite excited.

I'm grasping for straws, I know.

As a spin-off, this is just a bonkers story splattered with fan service. It is kinda enjoyable, but it is fluff with precious little substance. All the other countries are just pastiche clones of places in our world with very little thought or originality. I'd prefer to see the main story get updates than this.
