Hope this veers into him doing more water spirit things sans people. After taking the kids minus his contractor to proper homes he could go around reforesting deserts or bringing rain to torrid land or some shit, maybe calming a raging sea, diverting a flood, anything more symbolically related to water.

And a town ravaged by rampant basilisks would be a pretty cool story hook for a setting. It'd also be pretty horrifying to save such a town that could've been stuck as stone for decades and have people just wake up to that.

To be fair, he pretty much completed his end of the bargain by getting the children healed. The rest was just extra service. And the contract seal on Yona seems to be the whole doing anything in return part. I'd imagine he could just return to his lake/physical manifestation of the remainder of his being, but that would also be just him up and leaving rather than placing the children somewhere safe/physically relocating them closer to his lake.

Well, after I had a look at the incoming chapters, it looks like this manga is indeed going the way of the most generic isekai, where being a water spirit is just an excuse to be overpowered and kill monsters for an adventurer guild.
In other words, worthless.
