Man, I haven't had yakisoba pan in such a long time. I could probably make it at home but I think the problem is that here in the states there's more of a stigma about eating carbs stuffed with more carbs. Maybe once 7-11 gets the Japanese products I can get it again.

The problem is that the bread is too much sweet in the states (heck, one european country says it's not bread), so unless you make the bread yourself using an european recipe, you will only get a too fat version...

Compared to Nobu, Gen is less Japanese-centric on their cuisine. Iirc, there are only 2 non Japanese food in Nobu (Napolitan and Ajillo).

While in Gen, we see Lablabi, Banh Mi, Baguette, Pho, Hamburger.

Anyway, this is just my weird observation lol.

That has been a plot point in Izakaya Nobu, as far as I can remember. Given that Nobu's Taishou came from a very traditional ryokan (?) background, even adopting Napolitan and Ajiilo is a big deal for him. Though after his meeting with his former boss, and then his experience training Hans, he has begun to swing the other way, trying to make use of local ingredients and integrate local tastes into his cooking. I doubt he'd lose his traditional Japanese cuisine bias though.

Aah! I'd only recently read about 7-11 bringing Japanese Konbini food into the U.S. I hope there's an announcement when they implement it. I don't generally go to convenience stores, even ones at gas stations, but I would seek out a 7-11 for a taste!

I just recognized that they're using low tables with a well for legs for sitting customers. I didn't know that the Japanese used that. I though that it was a "cheat" for American Japanese restaurants.

It is such a sinful food... so much carb, but so delightful.
Oh but, it is quite difficult to eat with one hand, actually. I just can't get the noodles to stay inside the bread.

I really like how all the characters in "Gen" seem to branch out more from just the izakaya. feels like it creates a better cast of characters and story than "Nobu"
