I fucking HATE those people with a passion: eyeglasses are a DISABILITY AID, not a luxury or a fucking fashion statement.
What would you think of someone using a wheelchair as a fashion accessory?
And of course the industry would cater to them, since the kind of retards that wear them for fashion will change them every six months.
And so, we poor sods that need them to see we end up with glasses that cost an arm and a leg (because they are a "luxury item"), look like crap (since they have to be different from everyone else AND from what you did last year), built like crap (since you would change every year anyway) and with piss-poor lens quality (since the big spenders won't wear lenses anyway, so who fucking care).
It's still accesory like bracelets and necklaces... Sunglasses also exist. I wear glasses practically my whole life, and happy now glasses are widely used as fashion item.
Because of this old way of thinking of yours, back then glasses is considered as something nerds wear. Because it was considered disability aid, wearing glasses was a shameful thing for many people especially students. And this made them refuse to wear them, and thus making their sight worse.
So yeah, a disability aid turning into a fashion item is a good thing. Not a bad thing. Even old disability aid stuffs such as canes has various styles. Fidget spinners was awkward to use for people with actual need for them, but now no longer because normal people use them too.
Even wheelchairs, while not used by normal people, has their own customizable options too nowadays. Making people feel good for using it. The color, the style, the wheel, etc, to make it more fashionable!
So yeah, I'm all for disability aids getting into fashion. Better than the shameful stigma it has back in the day.
