I was not expecting what I thought was an ikemen guy on the cover to be an adorable and beautiful lady doctor. It's a pleasant surprise!

@thanghe: It is Leontaine, if you go back to her chapter you can see her take out this rectangular amulet right before going into her flashback.

I'm always a fan of hot older ladies like that magic-enthusiast doctor. Although it's unlikely we'll see more of squid-mercenary Leontaine, I can at least look forward to seeing more of Ingrid in future volumes (after sneaking a peek at the latest tankobon raws).
