You keep cherry picking portions of my analogy in order to take it out of context. Ok, you keep believing she was trying to kill him the whole time.
Your analogy is flat out wrong, it doesn't work here, what you're calling "cherry picking" is me pointing out why it doesn't work, maybe you should come with a better analogy if you want to get your point across better. Also when did I ever say she was trying to kill him?? I said that her actions could've killed him which would defeat the purpose of capturing him entirely, maybe read my post next time before putting words in my mouth? And that's not even the actual topic, we were arguing whether her actions were right or not, not whether she wanted to kill him or not.

This is so disappointing when compared to the light novel that I felt like I have to leave a comment. I was honestly expecting this to be a fight that takes potentially 3 chapters as it has a lot of detail and cool scenes. First of all Suimei didn't lose in 2-3 strikes, he held out quite a bit until he was cornered and wasn't basically bullied like this. He had also unleashed his mana fully when introducing himself, alerting all the animals around making the princess feel threatened. During the fight he had to change the placement of the shield several times, and carpet bombing was the type of spell that was said to cover the sky, and princess dodging all of them made Suimei call her a monster and question why they summoned a weak hero in the first place if they had warriors like her. He used the sword when the princess got close enough and fast enough that he didn't have the time to deploy his shield, and the sword is made out of mercury.
Honestly this is a total butchering of the light novel. It has been getting worse and worse with every chapter release as they make important moments and fights shorter and simpler. Remember how long and true to the novel his encounter with white mage was in the garden? I think it is because they are close to axing the manga. The volume 9 was delayed by the publishers and volume 10 is still not out thanks to the publishers basically killing author's desire to write and even more issues.
I might take a look at this from time to time. But I have no expectations left. One of the most interesting parts about this story was the magic itself as it had its own rules, systems, and went quite in depth on how things worked. But in its current form it is just firing mana around and doing flashy moves. As someone said earlier, "but do stupid magic like making a sword and throwing energy balls".
Note: In novel why he doesn't use more advanced magic often is explained. Half of his magic can't even be used as his magic mainly borrows powers from legends and stars etc. While the ones he can use are greatly weakened. His family specialises in spirit magic where they borrow power from spirits like angels etc. They are basically the last lineage left on earth still using such magic as making contracts became harder and harder.
Then, their magic is not that advanced?

It is mainly in the fundemantal working of magic where the difference is, not in the scale. The magic used by our world in this story is one that is used to fight against beasts of the end, that appeared at the end of the first arc. As such those magic has draws their powers from legends and meanings instead of from natural elements etc. Of course, even in comparison of fire power magicians of our world is much stronger when we talk about the peak strength, but for the most part they are not that strong in fire power. In the LN it is made extremely obvious that Suimei has a warped perception of how strong he is. This is caused by his father and all the people around him being basically in the top 10 strongest of his world. He is able to use large scale magic that normally requires dozens of people by himself (for example, I believe starfall was one such magic) and his rampart etc are all extremely high level magic, while as his father passed away he is the only person who can call upon angels etc in our world. So he is among the top end of power in our world, but he believes he is weak because the "friendly uncle that is a retired average mage" was someone that could destroy mountains with a punch while his neighbour could cut a mountain without his blade touching it.

You didn't, but you responded in direct quotation of me quoting someone who was saying so.

No, you want to change the argument to whether its right or wrong. I have never been arguing that.
maybe read my post next time before putting words in my mouth?
So therefore, take your own advice.

Ok this is quickly devolving into a "you said I said" pointless back and forth, I'm not seeing any desire for having a real discussion here so I'm opting out. Have a nice day sir.

Hahaha I love seeing pointless drama.
Yes she did stab him in the chest, but also, this is a manga, it's shown that way for visual stimulation.
Even the MC dropped fucking bombs on her, did he mean to kill her then? No, this is a friendly action scene where the stakes AREN'T life or death.

I understand where you are coming from. But to comment here, I will have to point out that in a light novel, there is a lot of description of weapons, fighting styles, and actions so the reader can visualize what is happening, however in a manga it is redundant to constantly point out things that are happening in each frame (i.e. you mentioned they described the MC's sword as being made of mercury in the light but is it essential to describe or even feasible in the manga? another example is in the light novel the carpet bombing of the Princess and the idea that she dodged all of them was described however in the manga it was just shown in a few frames. It is inconsequential for the plot or the scene if the MC called the princess a monster or not).

This is like an advertisement that says:
"For the full story, buy the LN!"

It makes this series feel like one of those poorly thought out video game that relies on continuous DLC...
Problem is, it's a good series!

Gotta admit, though... I'm not really a fan of 38 chapters of a minor fight, with every chapter being 27 pages of "Uuuuoooohhh" followed by two punches.
Not at all.
