@FioreFire Better kill them all than allow them to leave bearing the news of a new witch. A Saint would come next, escorted by an army of knights. If nobody comes back, the leadership in Qualia may still assume it was just an ordinary regrettable battle that killed the pesky mission of just two knights (one of which was a rank amateur) and a bunch of mercs. If they find it bothersome, they may tell the Saint that it's too costly to send another force down there. Of course they might send another one, but it's still possible it wouldn't be one with a Saint in tow. Mynoghra might be able to deal with the second force no problem as well. It would give them at least some time.

Remember that even the neutral dark elves were too much for the good alignment nations. There's no way they would ever tolerate the evil Mynoghra, especially with the prophesy talking about disasters.

In the world of D&D there is the classic alignment chart: (Good, Neutral, Evil) X (Lawful, Neutral, Chaotic). In that world though you can be a Dark Mage but on the side of good.
But people misunderstand dark mages to assume they are aligned to evil.

On one hand, you had the old knight who understood correctly that a dark elf, living in a dark forest can be neutral.
Then you have the young inexperienced knight who thought that all dark elves must be evil aligned.

In the "system" of the manga, you can be "The Evil God" and "aligned evil" but according to the alignment be "neutral" (as the MC is). So it looks like "evil" is used doubly in this manga to refer to "dark" AND to "evil". The confusion is intentional to add uniqueness.

That fucking brat really screwed things over for them. He was probably on calling it quits so they could all escape unscathed and report that a disaster is living in the forest so they would need more troops. He quite literally killed everyone else by being so rash.

Best girl gonna fuck some shit up
Also the new kid is fucking dumb.
The veteran knight knew what was up and was playing it cool so they could escape and leave the forest alive, reporting back to the kingdom for reinforcements.
But no this dumbass just had to give them away.

When a dark figure with an extremely powerful aura “kindly asks” you to leave it makes sense to leave

This the epitome of choose your battles!
While it's definitely the overly zealous youngster fault for pressing on, a small part of responsibility lies with the senior Knight! He should have instructed him beforehand, maybe not about every detail of the mission, but at least to follow his lead if anything suspicious happens! But because the two leaders are so different, a distrust formed long before the real danger appeared! Nothing good happens when allies don't trust eachother
