Buncha folks here who missed "The Chronicles of Narnia" having existed, as well as the entirety of Gallic, Meso-American, Pacific Island, and Irish literature, folkways, and oral traditions if you think that "Isekai" is a solely Japanese phenomenon...

Also, THANK YOU FOR THE TL!

I get that there are already sci-fi isekais, and I can think of a couple off the top of my head too, but they're hardly common in a genre that should be exceptionally broad in its scope and vision, but has essentially niched down into what I was complaining about (the fantasy ye old European inspired setting).

Isekai has essentially become the punching bag of japanese media for its lack of creativity and originality.
The fact that you and I can only think of a couple of sci-fi themed isekai off the tops of our heads, despite the dozens upon dozens of isekai being made, shows just how stagnant the genre is.

And I make these complaints as someone who reads (and usually enjoys) a lot of this trash.
Isekai is pretty much sub genre under fantasy. Magic is a common element in fanstasy. Magic is fun and leaves a lot of room for imagination. Sci-fi is essentially a different genre. And clearly, fantasy is more popular than sci-fi so...here we are

Did bro really just translate a line in p7 as "Jesus Christ"? 💀

Was that really what the Japanese writer wrote? I'm sure there are better ways to translate whatever was written there, no?

This is not a major issue, don't get me wrong, but it does slightly ruin immersion.
Was that a hecking Christianity reference? Dude, not cool.
There are children reading this, you know.
