I guess, author just copied irl situtation, before peeps tried to decorate to the max, having a lot of furniture with lots of items. That versus new "clean aesthetic", ie gray/beige minimalist slop. While it may look sober at the first glance, it's just a new marketing move to force ppl to buy more to own less (ie what minimalism stands for rn).
Kinda dissapointed that this chapter didn't mock this perspective.
And I bet he could sell his existing furniture for far more than what he spend on the new sets. But somehow the author totally missed that hilarious spin.

I think the problem is like fashion clothes here! You pay for the name even if it's very plain furniture like what Claris bought and the furniture Gran made even though it's of a higher quality would sell for less.

I don't know if it's just me but I find it extremely bizarre how the artist continuously changes Ars' and Lilina's heights when it can clearly be seen on page 30 that Lilina is taller than Ars due to her being 16 and he only 10. However, due to social standards, either Lilina is drawn shorter than Ars or Ars is drawn a head taller than he actually is whenever they are put together side by side.
This is messing with me so bad :notlikethis:

Seems the group dropped this, they haven't updated it on their own site for two months now, not to mention mangadex which has one chapter less than over there, though it could be that by renewing their site they just forgot about this series, dunno...

Yeah it was a bit of a weird theme for the chapter, I've been in old Tudor houses &toured a uni that used to be something similar to a manor or estate house for trips as a kid and his first house was pretty similar to those.

In general maximalism was very popular with people with too much money on their hands on europe, and excessive decoration of fabrics lol.
The author/mangaka simply did little research. This series has had multiple cases of the locals not having basic things that have existed since the ancient Egyptians, and thus the MC needs to bring those "innovations" to them, like the stained glass. That's actually one of the most common foolish details that exist in isekai. And now this whole style thing was another. You might of course say Claris was hundreds of years before her time and thought about things like modern people do. However, the series did not present it like that. Instead Claris represented the normal was of that world. Like you said, history was definitely more like Ars own designs, which the author most likely hadn't got any idea about.

Ironically, since so much of isekai series is about a modern (Japanese) person bringing enlightement to the uncivilised locals, this could have been another case of it. Now it was a modern person going for the historical accuracy and a local "correcting" him to make it modern. Quite a twist.
