Hell naw what if grandpa editing mtfc's ( :meguusmug: ) memories made him(?) pursue the soul crushing corporate path instead of going straight to slow life farming?☝️:korone:

Also if I had a nickel every time the author of Shield Hero made a genderswap light novel, I’d send it to him so he can get some estrogen pills
First of all, I'm really sorry the last time I quoted you and snapped at you in a completely different thread. I meant what I said but I could've been a lot less impatient/angry. It was one of those straw + camel's back things. (like in a "I'm so sick of having this conversation" kind of way)

But I wanted to say the Shield Hero author's gender is completely unknown. Their LNs are all published under a feminine pen name. That really could be one of two things -- one possibility is that they ARE trans but keeping deep in the closet, may already be on the pills. Japan is a tough place to be trans in. Less outright dangerous to your life but it's definitely hard mode otherwise. Thankfully you don't need to chemically castrate yourself anymore to get HRT, they changed that law in 2023.

The other possibility is that she(?) is in fact a woman but doesn't want her otaku and real life to mingle. You'd be surprised (or not) but MtF gender bend is wildly popular in Japan among cis women otaku. I personally know at least three on social media who post that stuff constantly and at least four female vtubers who love it. It was surreal listening to Marine from Hololive basically go on a tangent about the mental and emotional appeal of the genre.
Adorable anecdote actually -- one of the cis women I know on social media is Riko Kuratsuka. She's pretty much made a name for herself in horny but adorably-styled gender bend works. There's a nonzero chance you know her name. But it took years before she wanted to attend doujin events for the genre. She was anxious that a middle aged woman showing up among vibrant young "men" (who fantasize about being girls) would be disruptive. Thankfully she got encouragement from everyone (myself included) and started going for it, especially after meeting many other women who love the genre. She also underestimated just how many western trans girls felt nourished by her allyship. It was just second nature to her to be one, not even something she thought deserves hesitation. Which really puts pay to the nonsense transphobes constantly tell us about how being an ally or even just tolerant isn't natural. Either way she loves seeing gender euphoria.

... uh... sorry. Got off on a tangent there. I guess I just wanted to share warm vibes I got, if just by way of apology for last time. Either way thanks for being a proactive ally yourself if Aneko Yusagi turns out to be trans. TBH given this is twice now we're seeing "this light novel is just about finally being able to relax in a body I find comforting" I'd actually wager she is.

The moment the grandpa gave the envelope I knew what would happen next. The author must be a huge fan of Stardew valley
