Everyone's fleeing to the forest to get away from taxes as far as I can tell. Going from a nationstate to a commune is a funny transition since they apparently don't have the cultural baggage limiting themselves.
Kind of curious at what point are they going to have to turn people away. When there's no forest left to clear for homes? This is somewhat parallel to Brazil's issues sans ill guided boot strap picking up.
I do enjoy educational stories, are there any out there that gives macro economic lessons? Best I could think of immediately would be Spice and Wolf, but that is just related, not on topic. Always see king or prime minister characters hard at work signing paper work, but never shows what the paper work is. ... Just realized I may have stumbled into having interest in one of the books I hate the most. The Book of the Courtier.
Man, I think I'd love a Neal Stephenson book about economics. Might be one out there as I haven't gone through them all, but kind of doubt it.
