This kind of feels like those quests were its super rare but difficult to do because the requirements to complete them are very specific. On the other hand, it's a pain to do but on the other hand, the idea of being able to discover them and completing them just gets you going.

Took me a second to realize, but might as well put it here:
When he thinks of not spoiling something, I believe he's not refering to the pharmacist's ingredients (since appraising doesn't seem to damage the targets), but as in spoiling his fun on discovering things in the wild.
