@LysandersTreason exactly. Having a comparison between yen and any other currency (be in other world or not) is only useful when you can exchange them.

There are some isekais where the MC goes back and forth and can exchange money in some way (a skill or a tool), but other than that theres no telling what different products will cost by only having one product's price to compare, as each resource might not (and usually dont) match up on each 'side' (Earth and another world), specially because fantasy worlds lack the technology level to make simple things cheaper (mass produced) as they are here.

Why hide your surname? Just leave it. As a noble, you're gonna get preferential treatment and you need all the help you can get in a scary other world.

Yeah, why bother hiding a surname? It gets you preferential treatment as it seems and with the amnesia story already established you have no drawbacks for not being able to tell them where you are from... but okay... never understood this habit of japanese mcs in mangas to be so agressivly against being percived as a noble (or becoming one) in isekais... just weird.

And yeah, you cant just compare currency, especially not between a modern nation and a middle age one, even in a modern nation the cost of living between a big city and a normal one can be differ highly, but in a world like that it should be even worse, different goods will cost enormously more or less, depending on how far they have to be brought aside from how hard they are to make in the first place. Would make more sense to describe what a night at an inn and a good meal cost in the worlds currency to have a sense of it for example.

Since he's an amnesiac theyre most likely going to try to find the noble family just to find out they dont exist. There's many unknown factors that are potentially risky.

You would be right if they try to find out his noble origin and couldn't and call him a faker. But in this story at least, upon finding out they can't find his family, their conclusion would not be 'fake noble'. Their conclusion would be "Eh, he's probably a foreign noble from way out in the sticks." Why so?

Because their status, that's seen through the spell can't be falsified. Sure, the protagonist can falsify it, but according to the receptionist, this isn't possible and has never happened before. You can think of 'status' as information from god, people wouldn't normally question god. So people would just assume that his family must be someone out of their reach and would just accept that as a conclusion.
