Haha, so showing those soldier duos all this time have a payoff after all.
Still though, if they have a shield magic why not use that sooner? It's clearly useful against those flames, and as far as I remember the magician doesn't seem to be a specialist of certain spells.

It’s mainly because they didn’t realize they weren’t magical flames they could cancel as was shown before also this likely happened a lot faster than what we’re seeing as we didn’t shift perspectives for the MCs which they were likely still trying to figure how to deal with the fire plus they probably also needed time actually gather the mages I got the proper position to use the magic effectively
