So he's using a real katana, made from glorious Nippon steel folded over 1000 times. He can cut rock, so that has to be it. (Looks like some kind of Chinese dao.)

"Are those your final words?"
That's about as much as you need to listen to him.

Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked.

It actually looks more like a langes messer, minus the nagel.

Now I’m wondering if Takadono uses foreign swords to combat and harm Stone People. Ao fought Yachiho and Isaza with the “Buster Sword”. Although he failed to land any hits against Yachiho and Isaza.

The unnamed Liaison could also be using a technique similar to Sekkoku’s Stone Pressure Points.

That'd be an interesting twist. Depending on how far the author wanted to take it, they could borrow from history and link it into the quality of the steel the blades are made from.

Historically, Japan had pretty terrible iron, which is why forge welding was so prominent throughout the nation's history despite it falling out of popular use in Europe around the 3rd or 4th century CE (or thereabouts, I don't remember off the top of my head).

Oh i made him stumble and lose balance!!!! Time for a follow up?

No, lets run back to my partner so the enemy can get back up to prepare his next technique!

They were both under the assumption that the liaison was a stone person. Breaking horns = fight either ends or becomes easier. If he actually was one, what could Isaza do as a follow up attack to even hurt the guy?

Now that it’s been revealed that the liaison/masked man is a human with stone body parts like Isaza, they still don’t know what his powers are. I don’t think a follow up attack would have made much of a difference; it could’ve gotten Isaza killed.

His wife was bleeding, possibly for the 1st time ever in her entire life, of course he would run to her side. Isaza does not want to lose Yachiho again, permanently.

Might be foreign steel. If the stone powers are tied to the land itself, ore from a foreign country might not be affected as much.

Because it's all over the place, MC would still lose against a random mook, the battles are short, the romance is short, and it's at 5 volumes and two years!! with barely any plot progress. And then of course the Nagi subplot.
