Is there a translation error? a deeper implication that went over my head? or is it intentionally left without a punchline?. im confused

@yamigosaya I don't think there's supposed to be a specific point, or punchline or even life lesson. It's just the story of someone reflecting on their life and how someone they knew had impacted it, and their relationship. It feels like it was written about a true event but it easily could be pure fiction. In either case it's really well done.

I love this one shot so much... I don't know if it's really based on a true story or not, but it doesn't actually matter. It feels like a cut-out of someone's life. Incomplete, unfinished, with no defined conflict and no resolution. Just a reflection of the author's thoughts, feelings and memories. It's so real. So true. Stories like that really make me think, and I love them to death for it.

Love this story. As others have said, it feels very authentic, and the ambiguities only enhance that. The translation is exceptionally good, too, at least in that the "poetic" dialogue and narration read like good poetry and actually serve the story (a hen's tooth rarity).

Worth noting the parallel in Y-san blaming herself for A-chan's death just as A-chan blamed herself for her sister's. People leading one another into the future and "dying off as we speak, one by one." You wonder who one day will remember Y-san...
