the translation is way off in places, look at the text on pg4 "the intense heat in every room..." that whole textbox makes no sense, compared to the same page from another group(not on MD) and it clearly shows the details on the herb.

Pain is good. It lets you know your limits. If he had taken a painkiller beforehand, he could've inadvertently killed himself due to underestimating the severity of the poisoning.
