This is what you get for jumping right into something expressly stated to be a sequel/spinoff without even investigating what the original is. Like a lot of you I found this first through the girls love tag, but then I actually read the description to see it was part of another series so I looked into the first one to get a sense of what was happening and this chapter came as absolutely no surprise. Seriously guys do your research before complaining. Even if this wasn’t part of a preexisting series (which it is) checking the author’s past work should also be standard.
