cracks knuckles we're finally in my element....
Thoroughly enjoyed this chapter, here are some thoughts and further observations you may find useful (or ignore) lol

The Volks IMS 1/100 FSS series of kits... man how can I describe this, they are glorious things to behold but to build them can be labour intensive, much more than your usual Gundam MG. Unlike the polished product that bandai puts out there, you will need more work, plastic will have some imperfections, like sinkholes, polycap sockets may not fit, Fragile parts,
overcomplicated assembly and parts that put focus on detail rather being more user friendly for the construction.
So shopkeeper, its not sitting in my pile of shame, lol Yakumo is right ,its just that it will need a handful to build it and I need the right motivation and time lol.

Lol Yakumo, whatever you are talking about, Iroha's ersatz Katana kit is cheap (2000 yen) compared to your KOG (11000+ yen)
plus she's just exaggerating, the Tamiya Katana is a cheap novice kit lol

The advanced artificial intelligence they are referring to is actually the most important part in the FSS world, The Fatima.
Yakumo described a bit poorly but they are not clunky AI or internal computers in the mech but a living breathing artificial humanoid with advanced computational ability somewhat akin to the Replicants in Blade Runner.
They act as co pilots (or waifus) to the Headdliner, synching with the MH, and without one it will be almost impossible to operate a MH.
However, there are non sentient organic computers, Eritmils that a Headdliner can use, but it pales in comparison to a Fatima operated one (unless you are freaking Decors Weissmel lol. No shit, he might have sucked in the movie, but in the Manga, he is an incredibly skilled badass.)
How big of a deal the Fatima are? well, they are the reason of the FSS movie after all.

About gothicmade,
For such a long running series like FSS and helmed by only one person, there have got to be changes here and there as Mamoru Nagano fell out and fell in love with different new concepts and trends of the times. There are 3 different changes in style in FSS I can see so far,
1st: 80's look with chunky solid MH designs, Fatima's dress like secretarys and personal assistants, 80's asf flared shoulders
2nd: 90's- 2000s look, Nagano got hit by the Curse of Evangelion. Fatima's started wearing skintight plugsuits (aka Plastics style) MH proprtions become more thinner and feminine, Mechs start to wear high heels instead of flat feet. Transparent armor started showing in MH, like the Mighty series and LED Mirage V3.
3rd. current Gothicmade style where Nagano pulled a switcheroo and started reimagining all the MH into this style.
If you're looking for 80's MH designs , Wave's old FSS kits are the ones to find, while Volks IMS kits are the 90's-00's designs.
Or if you're brave enough you can dip into the world of FSS Garage kits, but that's a another whole can of worms lol.
