Araki uses very specific wording in this chapter; they can't "steal" the diamond, Rohan "Lends" Jodio the rock. I think that the rock has a sort of ownership based power, where those the rock considers an owner cannot be stolen from. This would explain why the diamond no longer "came back" to Rohan, because Rohan extended ownership of the rock to Jodio, making the diamond and money both Jodio's and Rohan
