I don't think the nest is out right evil, and I do think they genuinely want to help the bug people. Even professor Ma. I just think there's a stubborn and foolish, with does make sense but I do think they are pushing there own agenda a bit to much.
Though there is definitely more we don't know so we'll have to see where things go.
