One of the bests from Itou. The privacy centered obsession the family of the MC and the town without streets share is really well done, and disturbing in a refreshing way. The ending could be better though, and definitely not a fan of the way the first part of the story gets connected with the latter part. Or maybe should I say not a fan of the first part of the story at all? Should have been two different stories in my opinion. Still great anyways.

This concept is nothing short of fantastic... but there's so much that's not explained enough and comes out of nowhere.

Why did her family in the original town act like peeps? That town was normal, as far as I could tell.
If the whole idea is the mysteriously appearing houses, where did the multi-eyed mutants come from?
And why did her aunt suddenly changed her mind? It's not like Ito's a stranger to tragic endings, so why not proceed with her plan after oofing the Ripper?

I think if this chapter was JUST about the multiplying town and the stabbings, it would've been more concise.

Idk about the rest of what happened but it's likely the Auntie saw that her niece was in direct mortal danger and that forced her to realize "She deserves to leave." after that she showed her the way out and returned to the town where she thinks it's best.

late reply, but i think both story is need to make this concept make some sense.
I think the concept here is just "what if", when a society have no piracy.
Her family, from a normal sociality, where the problem start to happen, to the new town, where it show how sociality have falling.
At first, the boy sneak into her room, make her dream about him. This explain why she may think some of what she saw is dream and not real (the killer, the ring, etc...) until she met them again. Because her family hear him, which make her family thought she sneak a boy in her room at night, this create doubt in the family. which lead to they start to peep on her.
Then when she go to her aunt town, the story have in-universe explain that somehow house get build and build and the are no space left for traffic, loosely but somewhat remind me of the housing problem in lot of part of the world, like some part in Hongkong or China, where people like in few square space that only enough to lie down, which totally have no piracy. And this is happening right now.

In that socialty, people changed. It gotten from at least you can see why, to stranger and stranger, the concept of normal become more bizarre. people start just demand going into each other house and no piracy left, her aunt give up piracy because there are no way to keep them anyways. Her aunt think have get use to this new normal and see her way of thinking is abnormal one. but in a moment aunt have a change of heart when she is in real danger, and she would not survive this life. but she herself have already get used to this new normal.
This also make me think the peeping people is just people mutated in that direction future lead to, or actually just figurative way of saying people "doesn't look like human anymore"
and the creappy thing is, this concept as weird as it seem, may not that far from reality.
