That panel of Garron touching his scars strikingly implies that his biggest scars are from when Gareus and the Hero's party fought him. Likely even just Gareus solo tbh.

Mikage's a little too reckless in trying to get away that he didn't realize he's still being monitored, but the sleep-fighting dude's definitely unexpected.

This is a random thought I'd had as well when the arc was first coming out. Obviously, not gonna comment on to whether I was right or not.
