Again and again I'm pleasantly surprised by how not completely awful this is
Its painfully derivative and dumb yeah but every now and then theres a glimpse of something more

This manga is so formulaic that I can't even think of any original idea. They even have the eccentric-character-design organization done twice within the last few chapters

it feels like a social experiment on what the “perfect formula shounen action manga” is. I can’t shake off how hollow it feels.

Lots of manga and webtoons are super generic/flat/templated but you can feel some soul in it (altho shitty in other ways). Not Kagurabachi.

I see the groupthink community has settled on a theme to bitch about - "manga is formulaic". There's about 10 more formulaic, predictable and souless manga on Mangaplus alone (Jiangshi X, anyone?), but you guys are gonna beat this horse to death nonetheless. Can't have an original idea lest someone leave the wrong kind of reaction image under your post, huh? I'm not saying this is great cause it sure isn't, but I've literally read a more bland manga 10 minutes ago, so maybe stop pretending like this is some kinda peak souless writing.

Eh, the fact is that people just don't care. Not only about generic manga like Black Clover that continue unimpeded, but also every piece of dung to ever escape from Shousetsuka ni Narou and recieve an adaptation. If this manga survives, it's just more bottom-tier stuff like yozakura family or witch watch. If it doesn't, it's another nail in the coffin after JJK and MHA end.

I agree, and I think it at least partly has to do with the aging demographic of manga readers in the west and the way that changes our expectations. One point of disagreement tho - MHA can't end soon enough for me, it's been power of friendshiping and talk no justuing hard for a while now.

Does that mean Chihiro only has one arm now? Could easily impede his fighting capabilities even if he has two enchanted swords now (granted one was broken but its possible they could fix it).
