Man, I was really excited to read this one; if BluWacky is out there; I hope you continue even in the face of the Reckoning
I'm still here. I'm not really sure what to do right now, to be honest. When I first saw news of the takedown I thought Kaguya and Marronnier would be fine, because people seemed to be sad that they were taking down scanlations of hugely successful series that have long-standing commercial English releases (seriously...), but clearly not the case. They've also only taken down half of Marronnier, and they've left Yowabi no Mahou alone which was the other Flowers series I'd done some work on (probably because it came out after they compiled the DMCA request), so there's less rhyme/reason to what their aim was.
A bit shaken at the moment, really, and unsure what to do or where to go next - what other manga hosts are there for tiny one person groups like me that will reach an audience that engages with/comments on stuff? Do I keep going with the series that haven't been taken down, despite knowing that every time I click the new button stating I confirm I am the copyright holder I'm actively lying?
I don't have a problem with the publishers exercising their copyright. I buy the manga I scan, I would have stopped on English license, etc. etc. etc. (not that any of that is a legal justification, but it's hopefully a better moral justification than many). I'm just a bit sad that something I only really picked up doing relatively recently as a fun hobby has been hit with uncertainty.
