Why in other fiction do they always treat PvP shit like it represents the whole of gaming?
There is a vast swathe of RPGs out there, not to mention all the other single-player games... but only the competitive multiplayer garbage ever gets the attention...
... well, besides Visual Novels, but they're handled differently.

In any case, the only First Person Shooters worth bothering with are the ones with a strong single-player campaign.

I am pretty sure there are just talking about the mainstream games, RPGs and single-player games ain't for casual gamers and playing with casual friends so they aren't talked about much. But I am pretty sure that the isekai and fantasy genre has a troupe for rpg games and as for visual novels they are pretty much treated as manga and visual novels aren't that popular for normies because of how much time it takes to complete
