I thought mom would either reject Hinako's sexuality as a "mistake" or just be happy that her daughter was happy and I'm honestly really glad that it was both.

Having her mother default to to rejection as a result of internalized homophobia from growing up in a conservative society then truly reflecting on that for probably the first time and having her prejudices eliminated in the face of her love for her daughter is such so nice. It's realistic enough that it feels like this could happen irl which just makes it so much more heartwarming

the only thing about it that feels unrealistic to me is how quickly she came around. i feel like in real life it usually takes longer. but ig that’s on a case by case basis.

man the part of the story where they come out to their parents never fail to make me cry, the one in how do we relationship completely destroyed me, this one not to the same extent but still hit me pretty hard
