His argument of "his own strength" is really kinda dumb; it's literally the kind of false humility that prevents people from accepting who they are.
You can guarantee that if another person did some criming or murdering with a similar gods-given strength, our MC would certainly blame the person doing the evil, and not likely blame the gods much for giving the criminal power... which means he is seeking more than just physical strength, and only associates the idea of "borrowed strength" in his own case; a diameteric opposition to both reality and his goal of being "the strongest, kindest."
(That "strongest, kindest" goal must make a lot more sense in Japanese, I guess; really doesn't roll off the tongue in Engrish!)
Because the strength he is talking about is maximizing what you can do with what you have; a "strength" of body, will, and character... and deadlifts don't necessarily mean shit when it comes to the kind of strength he is seeking.
Which, in turn, makes his "borrowed physical power" argument a fallacy, and a point of focus that won't aid him in the kind of strength he is actually seeking.
And, since he will then focus on something that affects no change he actually wants to see, hell be using it as a square peg to pound into a round hole, all while wondering why it won't fit.
.....
Not that I'm really complaining, per se; I've done that about a bajillion times in my own life, so it's not like I really have a big problem with it, or anything... 😒🙄
I just kinda wanted to point it out, is all.
Maybe it's an info-dump; maybe it's edibles.
