Ngl, it sure feels like a stretch that same sex marriage isn't legal in the world where people suddenly change gender by emerging from cocoons. The world building kinda leaves a lot to be desired because the attempts to have a "real" explanation for the magical gender transformation is not really meshing with the rest of their societal attitudes.
