This is like, everything not to do in this sort of situation, including the part where the supposedly most responsible adult says "it's fine this time because I think y'all are chill about it" instead of stopping at pointing out how weird this all is if they paused to consider things for any amount of time.

Like I think the author should've just not have this contrived investigating and planning and plotting chapter and just written it to have them conveniently meet.

Going through her socials to deduce who she is and then setting up a trap for her is creepy as shit. Tha fact that they point this out and then go "well we don't have bad intentions, it's public info and she will be happy to meet us, so it's okay for us to track down this person" is even worse. That's the same dogshit justification every doxxer who isn't an outright hater uses.

Like, maybe I'm overreacting a bit, but it's weird to me that an author who is clearly into vtubers would depict this kind of shit in any sort of positive light.

Well, replies can be closed (?), the best way is to mention her on stream (probably show her art) and say "I'd love to contact you, if you don't mind, DM me in twitter" and wait. If they don't want, they won't DM and that's it.
