This is an adaption of a novel (NOT light novel, a real novel) series. As novels tend to be more intricately woven stories, it would make sense this would be more complex than most other similar media.

Thanks for the chapter! Can't help comparing all the details to the anime. I wonder which one follows the novel most closely?

So there's more magic in this setting besides people turning into giant crows.

The manga's a lot closer! I cross-check against the novel when translating and it's been almost an exact line-by-line transcription so far.

The anime's shifted some scenes around and made their own little additions(?) probably so the pacing wouldn't be too slow, which is understandable for such a different medium lol

i noticed the manga design is also closer to the design depicted on the novel's cover! i prefer the scrappy looking yukiya compared to anime yukiya, especially since giving him such a different look compared to his siblings would contribute to being othered by people who aren't his family. i wonder what the jp fanbase thinks

Do the princesses in anime would not appear in here..? I noticed there is another manga "A Raven For All Seasons" which focus on the princesses. It's licensed in English by Kodansha.

Also is that series has different plot woth the novel? And the comparison to this series ..?
