If Yukiya is Wakamiya's "one in a hundred", who is Sumio? In any other series I wouldn't question it. But. I read a raven for all seasons. This author absolutely would pull something like foreshadowing a Sumio betrayal in a single slightly off line of dialogue.

That's why I wouldn't have thought much about it in any other work. But. A raven for all seasons was a lesson in humility re: expectations. Because that manga did everything up to and including fucking lying to the audience (because a character was lying to everyone else for Reasons), but mostly lied by omission, implication and expectation.
