I think what is happening is that she's not able to replicate gun powder or the tight tolerances required for lethal rounds, so the bullet was well under subsonic, which just resulted in a pretty bad bruise.

Still a lot of weirdness in this bit...

Taiko skill is interesting, could he steal everything?? maybe vitality or other karma skills?? (normal skills are possible).
and Taiko has more chad energy, than most harem MCs. Taiko acknowledge/accept Fran's feelings (ch. 10, page 14).

This guy can steal bullets from guns accidentally, but not when it's pointed at somebody he cares about? And if that's suppose to somehow be a part of this lady's "countermeasures", then explain how such a thing is actually prevented; what earthly knowledge could they have gained to let them suppress these "karma abilities" that exist outside the logical bounds of earth and this world of magic? I mean, clearly karma abilities are relatively well known about in this world, but they haven't given any explanation for how they might operate; and that would be fine if they kept setting up situations like with the drug production, where simply stealing wouldn't accomplish the goal. In this case though? They at least had the idea of him focusing on a new skill to try to accomplish the task without arising suspicion, which would be fine; but then they pull out some bullshit uno reverse card that makes no sense, and just ran with it.

I'm just glad that I found this series and binged to this point all at once; no more wasted time on this one for me.

Edit: oh, and the nail in the coffin is that he stole something from her in this chapter; it was always an option to just steal the damn thing and go from the beginning.

If this series wasn't so terribly written that all analyses are totally wasted, I'd say one explanation is highly inconsistent power between cartridges. The one penetrating the engine might be what they are aiming at, yet extremely rarely achieve, and the one that failed to even really wound Takio is what they usually get. Likely they don't really understand what they are doing with the powder (chemical power), since normally they are only dealing with magic power. So, the gun and cartridges Feris carried on her were all prototypes.

As someone said in the previous chapter, he could've stolen the gun, the bullets, the ring, the necklace, and the staff. The author is retarded.
