Not sure if he is a reference to something specific, but he's one of the strangers. He wants to explore the mansion, knowing there's something wrong with it, he appeared once or twice before.

I just realised that the time in the elevator and the time outside of it isn't linear compared to the rest of the building, at least when there's only the elevator girl inside of it / no one is in it.
